Are you ready to speed up this scale up? And by doing so, accelerating the energy transition with hydrogen as the primary
energy carrier?
HYGRO is a start-up/scale-up working on developing, realising, and operating the hydrogen chain from wind to wheel. Our ambition is to become the market leader in the Netherlands as a green hydrogen energy company, focusing on replacing diesel. We aim to have a nationwide network of hydrogen production sites, hubs, and refuelling stations by 2027. We are a motivated, rapidly growing company. Would you like to contribute to developing a fast-growing start-up with a mission to build a sustainable hydrogen supply chain as the primary energy carrier?
As our Wind Energy Engineer, you will be an integral part of our technical team, responsible for ensuring the successful execution of our green hydrogen projects. You will work on our flagship project, DUWAAL and new hydrogen-wind projects. These projects involve developing and analysing new green hydrogen production sites and optimising the wind parks. Besides working on ongoing projects, you will be part of R&D towards a more efficient integration of hydrogen production systems into wind turbines and help develop the integrated hydrogen turbine. You will work with a team of motivated individuals with diverse backgrounds and contribute to the company's further growth.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform site assessments for new wind park locations across the globe.
- Design and develop an optimal wind farm layout with a hydrogen production system according to the site specifications and system components.
- Develop simulation tools for assessing new hydrogen production locations based on the proposed designs.
- Enhance and refine HYGRO's energy system modelling tools to determine the optimal sizing of energy systems.
- Create forecasting models for wind and hydrogen production that can be utilised in the operational phase of projects.
- Collaborate with financial and technical colleagues to optimise hydrogen energy system design.
- Engage with stakeholders, including governments, landowners, and project developers/engineers.
- Stay informed about relevant laws and regulations on large-scale hydrogen production and possible.
- Collaborate with other engineers to ensure seamless integration between electrical and mechanical systems.
- Maintain comprehensive documentation of wind farm system designs, electrical layout, system configurations, and operating procedures for reference and future maintenance.
- Ensure that all electrical and control systems meet industry standards, regulatory requirements, and safety codes relevant to the hydrogen production industry.
- Consider available subsidy programs when performing technical-economic assessments.
Requirements:
- Bachelor's or master’s degree in European Wind Energy (TU Delft), Sustainable Energy Technology (TU Delft), or a similar degree in a related field.
- Technical knowledge of wind turbine systems and wind park layout optimisation.
- 0 - 3 years of experience in a similar role. Experience working in a project-based setup (as a wind energy expert) is a plus.
- Knowledge and working experience in (green) hydrogen production and on compressed natural gas projects is preferred but optional.
- Experience working with relevant standards, norms, guidelines and regulations regarding wind energy systems is a plus.
- Experience with programming languages such as Python to build simulation models.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Fluent in English required. Speaking Dutch is not mandatory.
